Definition: What is a Base Pallet?

Stringer and some block pallets that have single-directional bases are called base pallets. Their bottom boards aim in one direction. They are a part of pallet family, flat transport structures that help keep goods stable when it is lifted by the appropriate warehouse equipment. This equipment includes forklifts, pallet jacks, front loaders and a number of similar machines.
Base pallets require specially-designed equipment for handling, as most such equipment operates faster and with better efficiency when both bottom edges of a pallet have bottom boards oriented both ways.
